AaB v Hobro
Monday 14 August, 18:00
A lump of Swedish stodge proved indigestible for our mate Tobias last night, as the clash between Norrkoping and Djurgarden left him three goals short. He's got a week off to try and find a real party, while we pick up the baton.
We'll start in Denmark, because the Superliga season is starting to gather momentum. AaB have collected just two points from their first four league games, while Hobro have lost just once.
Hobro have had a busy few seasons. They have won two promotions from the second tier in three campaigns, and this time around they hope to avoid a quick fall back out of the Superliga. Although they haven't yet scored on the road, they did brilliantly to draw 0-0 at perennial table-toppers Copenhagen a fortnight ago, and they'll draw confidence from winning both of their home games so far.
AaB, or Aalborg, have only played one home game so far. It was a match to forget, as Morten Wieghorst's side were stuffed 4-1 by Sonderjyske. AaB finished tenth in the league last term, and if you stretch back into last season, you can see that they have only won one of their last 15 league games. They've been victorious in just one of their last six league games at Portland Park, and have drawn a blank in three of the last five.
Given those stats, I'm amazed to see AaB trading at evens to win this, so let's oppose them.
