Grigor Dimitrov v Marcos Baghdatis

The pair have met on 8 occasions with Baghdatis winning just once and that was courtesy of a retirement. Not counting retirement Dimitorv is 6-0 lifetime against the Cypriot and what is even more attractive is that he managed to beat Baghdatis on several occasions when he was significantly younger and the outsider. Grigor’s game is tailor made for this surface and there is no shame in his last two losses to Janowicz and Lopez. It is evident that Dimitrov can have troubles when facing big servers who like to approach the net but Baghdatis does neither. We will rarely see him venture forward and that will allow Dimitrov to really get into a rhythm. Cannot see Baghdatis making any impression.

Best: Dimitrov -6.5 ($1.73)

Adam Pavlasek v Novak Djokovic

This is Pavlasek’s 3rd appearance at a major and as is expecting he has never gone beyond this stage – that will not be changing. Novak was in cruise control until Klizan retired in his opening match and The Wolf doesn’t think he will need to get into second gear for this one. The Wolf’s main concern for Pavlasek is his second serve. If Escobedo can win almost half the points on Pavlasek’s second ball imagine what one of the best returners in the game will do to it. Djokovic’s return ability will see Pavlasek push for more on his first delivery and that is where his game will fall apart. Novak’s easy run to the quarters will continue.

Best: Under 27.5 games ($1.73)

Juan Martin Del Potro v Ernests Gulbis

Ernests Gulbis proved just how dangerous a player he could be in his opening round win over Estrella Burgos and The Wolf believes he will be given every chance to dominate against Del Potro. The Argentine was pushed by Kokkinakis and won only 75% of his 1st serve points and that is unlikely to improve against the dangerous Latvian. Gulbis will have the safety of hitting to the Del Potro backhand with the former US Open champion almost exclusively using the slice from that wing. It will allow Gulbis to run around and hit forehands which will allow him to dominate from the baseline. The start is a big one and The Wolf says to get right around Gulbis +6.5. He could lose in straight sets and still cover!

Best: Gulbis +6.5 ($1.73)

Dusan Lajovic v Roger Federer

The early signs were very good in his clash against Dolgopolov. He broke the Ukranian’s serve on three occasions to take a 6-3 3-0 lead before Dolgopolov pulled the pin. Breaking serve is the key to covering big starts according to The Wolf and he expects Roger to have it all his way tonight. He is winning more than 40% of all return points on grass this season and over 50% in his last two matches on the surface. The serve of Lajovic poses zero threat. He merely rolls it in a three quarter speed and looks to get onto the forehand as soon as possible. He couldn’t hit a winner from the backhand win if his life depended on it and will hit chip returns from that wing for the entire match. Federer will attack the Lajovic backhand and rush the net for the easy volley.

Best: Federer -8.5 ($2.05)

Milos Raonic v Mikhail Youzhny

Youzhny is a very tricky opponent and despite The Wolf picking Raonic as one of his bolters he is convinced that the big serving Canadian will not have it all his own way on Day 4. Raonic leads their H2H 2-1 but it was Youzhny who came out on top in their most recent meeting last year and he also took a set of Milos in their only meeting at Grand Slam level. The Wolf has made not of some recent performances from the Russian. He beat Karlovic in straight sets last week on grass and also won in straight in his opening match against Mahut. Both of those men have similar game styles to Raonic in that they serve and volley. Youzhny is 4-1 lifetime against Karlovic and also has winning records against big servers such as Isner and Anderson. He is even 6-6 against Berdych. Raonic will get through but Wolfy is predicting multiple breakers and says Youzhny will be winning at least one set.

Best: Over 31.5 games ($1.80)
