Brisbane Broncos blew the Wests Tigers away before half-time to win 42-16 and extend their winning streak to seven matches.
The home side ran in five unanswered tries before the interval at Suncorp Stadium, including two to backrower Alex Glenn.
The Tigers earned credit for the way they came out for the second half, as they cut the deficit to 10 points with three tries in the space of nine minutes.
It was too big an ask for them to get back into the match, though, and the Broncos cemented their place at the top of the ladder by running in three more tries in the final 11 minutes, Lachlan Maranta claiming a hat-trick.
The defeat was the Tigers' fourth in a row and leaves them bottom of the ladder ahead of the clash with third-placed Sydney Roosters on Friday.
Maranta book-ended the win, scoring the first try after seven minutes and then grabbing two of his team's late scores. His first try came after Ben Hunt's 40-metre bust, with Andrew McCullough then sending Glenn over the line.
Interchange prop Jarrod Wallace dived over under the posts to extend the lead, before Kiwi backrower Glenn took advantage of Anthony Milford's grubber kick to score his second try.
Milford's no-look pass sent Darius Boyd in the clear and he set up Jack Reed for the Broncos' fifth try of the half just before the break.
Ava Seumanufagai's try sparked the Tigers' fightback early in the second stanza, Manaia Cherrington then burrowing his way over the line.
When Mitchell Moses scored again three minutes later and Pat Richards nailed his second conversion of the half it had the visitors believing they could pull off a miracle comeback.
Their momentum was halted by an injury to centre Tim Simona, who copped an accidental elbow to the head and was taken off the field for a concussion test.
Maranta crossed twice in the space of six minutes to seal his hat-trick and Corey Oates added extra gloss to the scoreline in the final minute.
Brisbane are 1.14 to win their next match against the Gold Coast Titans, who are 5.75.
