MANCHESTER UNITED are on the brink of a deal for Barcelona’s unsettled striker Pedro – and the transfer could be sealed next week.
United are ready to trigger the £22million release clause in the 27-year-old forward’s contract and are confident the Spaniard wants to join them.
Barcelona arrived in San Francisco yesterday ahead of their International Champions Cup game with United in Santa Clara on Saturday.
Barca boss Luis Enrique does not want Pedro, above, to leave but understands the player’s frustration at his lack of playing time.
Ashley Young’s future at United, meanwhile, is in doubt after contract talks stalled.
Young, 30, has less than 12 months left on a five-year contract he signed following his move from Aston Villa for £18m.
After an impressive season under Louis van Gaal, Young was expected to have a new deal wrapped up but a problem may be the policy of offering one-year extensions to players over 30.
He said: "It’s in the club’s hands, so I’ll see how it goes. I’m desperate to stay at one of the biggest clubs in the world."
