Western Bulldogs midfielder Mitch Wallis has re-signed with the AFL club for a further three years.

The 22-year-old on-baller was used mainly as a tagger last season, but this year has taken his game to another level under new coach Luke Beveridge, who has trusted him to play more in attack in place of the injured Tom Liberatore.

Wallis said Beveridge has helped him rediscover his love of the game.
"From the first meeting we had he made it quite clear I wasn't going to be playing that (run-with) role, and that I was going to be joining in on team offence and defence," Wallis told News Corp.

"So he was on the front foot with that straight away and I could not have been happier with that first conversation that we had."
List manager Jason McCartney lauded Wallis' maturity and progression, which has culminated in him averaging 22 possessions and five tackles per game and leading the club in contested possessions (11.7) and clearances (5.5).

"Along with Liam Picken, Mitch has shouldered a lot of responsibility and leadership in the midfield this year and has been central to some of our wins this season," McCartney said.
"He is a mature head who is totally committed to the footy club in everything he does."

Wallis, the son of Bulldogs legend Stephen Wallis, has played 68 games since being taken on as a father-son selection in the 2010 National Draft.
On Sunday the Bulldogs will attempt to win their 10th match of the season against Collingwood at Docklands.
