ATP Shenzhen Feature Previews
Donald Young v Nicola KuhnAt just 17 Nicloa Kuhn will be making his debut on the ATP Tour. He has compiled an impressive record on the Challenger Tour including a maiden title but The Wolf says he is not ready to take the next step – not on this surface any way. Most of his success has come on clay and he enjoys having time to really wind up on his ground-strokes. Young is the opposite – the American loves to take the ball early and we will see him press Kuhn from the outset. Nerves are sure to play their part so we will be chips in Young for this one.
Best Bet: Young -4.5 ($1.85)
Akira Santillan v Evgeny DonskoyOn experience alone Donskoy has an edge in this one but Aussie Akira Santillan definitely has potential. The Wolf does has a concern though and it his ability to cope with big servers. Some of the men to beat him this year include Fritz, Berdych and Groth – all of whom won close to 75% of all service points against him. Lets not forget that Donskoy beat Federer earlier this year! He has also posted an impressive 22-6 record on hard courts on the Challenger Tour. The Wolf says he should be a much firmer favourite!
Best Bet: Donskoy -0.5 ($1.80)
ATP Chendgu Feature Previews
Kyle Edmund v Bernard TomicTomic continues to slide down the rankings and Wolfy cannot believe that the start is only 3.5 games. He would be happy to take Edmund -5.5 so you can imagine the excitement at -3.5. The Brit has made multiple semi finals this season and has compiled a winning record for the second consecutive season on tour. Tomic is in complete shambles and until he gets things together we will continue to fade him. Back Edmund from all angles!
Best Bet: Edmund -3.5 ($2.00)
Marcos Baghdatis v Vasek PosposilBaghdatis comes into this one with a 3-1 edge in the H2H and he faces the Canadian at what is his lowest point mentally for some time. Posposil has lost his last 4 matches and 6 of his last 7. His 6 wins on the main tour represent the lowest number since 2012 ans he hasn’t been able to get anything going. In addition he hasn’t played since going down in the qualifiers at the Cincinnati Masters! He hasn’t played enough tennis at the highest level and will be picked apart by Baghdatis who will look to dominate with his forehand. The former Aus Open finalist to post a comfortable win.
Best Bet: Sets Baghdatis 2-0 ($2.20)
