Roger Federer v Alexander Zverev
It’s the matchup we wanted when the draw came out – especially after their match here a year ago. On that occasion they met in the semi’s with Zverev winning a 3 set thriller. The German ran out of gas in the final against Mayer but his win over Federer was yet another step in the right direction. He has taken many more steps since – winning four titles including a Masters 1000 event. Federer hasn’t exactly taken a back seat either. After months off he has come back bigger and better than ever! He is 24-2 this season with his two losses coming early in tournaments when returning from an extended break.
He has improved with every match this week and has been clinical in the latter stages of sets. He has been playing a very aggressive brand of tennis and has looked to move forward at every possible opportunity. It is the style of tennis that Zverev has had trouble dealing with and The Wolf says Roger is a man on a mission. He will claim his 9th Halle title and will head into Wimbledon a raging favourite.
