The countdown to Wimbledon continues and several top ranked players are taking the opportunity to fine tunes their games this week including Novak Djokovic, Gale Monfils, Richard Gasquet and Dominic Thiem. The Wolf is very interested to see how Djokovic performs this week. Ideally he would have liked to work as much as possible with new coach Agassi leading into Wimbledon but that hasn’t been possible with the American juggling his busy schedule. The Wolf says we will continue to fade Novak in the coming weeks.
ATP Eastbourne

After two years in Nottingham the tournament returns to Eastbourne with Djokovic playing the week before Wimbledon for the first time since 2006. It is a clear sign that his game is far from where he believes it should be and The Wolf expects him to struggle despite a relatively weak field. He is the only top 10 player in the draw but The Wolf says there are several men with dominant serves that could trouble him including Posposil, Johnson, Mahut and Querrey – all men in his half of the draw. Things could get very interesting…

Feature Previews

Jiri Vesely v Vasek Posposil

Both men have booming serves and bring winning form with them to the Aegon International. Vesely won a Challenger even in Prostejov –  albeit on clay but he has played well on grass in the past. The Czech made the 4th round at Wimbledon last year and his big lefty serve is laways tough to deal with on this surface. Posposil himself has had somewhat of a resurgence in recent weeks. He made the quarters in s-Hertogenbosch and has played a stack of matches on grass due to the fact that he has had to qualify for tournaments. It is actually a positive for the Canadian as it would have allowed him to find a rhythm – particularly on serve. Like Vesely, he also has a Challenger title to his name in 2017. Breaks of serve will not be easy to come by and it makes the Overs a great bet!

Best Bet: Over 23.5 games ($1.85)

Nicolas Mahut v Robin Haase

Wimbledon is just a week away and with the grass court season in full swing The Wolf says we will continue to back specialist players on this surface. Nicolas Mahut is one of them and he always plays his best tennis this time of the year. He came out on top in the only meeting between the pair and all four of his career titles have come on this surface. Haase does have the firepower to compete with Mahut but he can be extremely erratic at times and that spells danger – especially in tiebreakers. Mahut will almost exclusively serve volley and Haase does not have the ability to consistently hit passing shots. Look for Mahut to make his way through the draw this week starting with a win over Haase.

Best Bet: Mahut WIN ($1.73)

ATP Antalya

One of the most open draws you will see on the tour this year and although Thiem is the name that sticks out, he is vulnerable on grass. Troicki, Verdasco and even Klizan look like they could go far this week. Aussie Matthew Ebden will also fancy his chances of getting a few wins under his belt.
Feature Previews

Yuichi Sugita v Matthew Ebden

The Wolf is shocked to see Ebden as such a big outsider here. The pair are no strangers having met 8 times on the Challenger Tour and it is the Aussie who holds a commanding 6-2 H2H advantage. Ebden made the quarter in Memphis earlier in the year and has won 5 of the last 6 against Sugita. This is a surface that will suit the Aussie and the price on offer is too big to refuse.

Best Bet: Ebden WIN ($2.35)

Carlos Berlocq v Viktor Troicki

Get right around Troicki says The Wolf!!! He is 2-0 against Berlocq and both of those victories came on the Argentine’s beloved clay courts. This time around they meet on grass –  a surface that Berlocq both avoids playing on and has a terrible record on. He has just 22 career matches on the surface dating back to 2003 for just 5 wins. He simply does not know how to play on this surface and cannot wait to get off the court. He was bageled by Bautista-Agut in one of the sets last week and we will see Troicki post a dominant win. Troicki minus is close to 5 chips!

Best Bet: Troicki -3.5 ($1.73)
