Frank de Boer looks almost certain to become the new Crystal Palace manager, as rumours circulate that the club is set to confirm his appointment, and the Dutchman is 1.08on the Exchange to get the job, with the Sportsbook market already suspended after a flurry of serious bets.

De Boer is thought to be Palace chairman Steve Parish's first choice, although former-Alaves boss Mauricio Pellegrino 10.00 also wanted it and impressed during interviews. The Burnley manager Sean Dyche is still trading as low as 4.20 while Fulham's Slavisa Jokanovic 6.20 has also been backed.

The Palace job could be ideal for De Boer as he tries to rebuild his career after being sacked in November by Inter Milan after only 85 days in charge. The south London club are well resourced and boast a solid fan-base. They have good players but De Boer will be backed in the transfer market this summer.
Last season was turbulent for Palace, as Alan Pardew's tenure unravelled and he was sacked in December. Sam Allardyce stepped in to save the club from relegation, investing in players in January and eventually finishing 14th in the Premier League.

Parish was shocked when Allardyce resigned days after the season ended and has been looking for a successor ever since. In De Boer he appears to have found his man. The Dutchman comes to Selhurst Park determined to bounce back from his miserable experience with Inter. Prior to that he had excelled with Ajax, winning four Eredivisie titles in his six seasons in charge and establishing himself as one of the most promising young coaches in Europe.

English fans will know De Boer best for his time as a player, with Barcelona and Rangers, among others, and as captain of the Netherlands for whom he won 112 caps. Now 47, De Boer takes charge of a Premier League club that has underachieved for the past couple of seasons and has ambitions of breaking into the top half of the table.
