Port Adelaide v Fremantle
Sunday 4:40pm
at Adelaide Oval

Port will be too good for a lost Fremantle outfit
Form
Port Adelaide caused the biggest upset of round 1 by defeating the Swans in Sydney. The brand of football they played was hard and tough and it’s not often the swans get beaten in contested ball at home. The added motivation of playing for skipper Travis Boak in his 200th game showed and the passion after the game was great to see.
Fremantle were hoping for an improved start to the season after last year’s disaster but it wasn’t to be. Returning skipper Nat Fyfe was good but his presence wasn’t enough to get Freo over the line. The most troubling aspect of their performance was the lack of game plan execution, something they will need to rectify quickly.

What To Expect
It will take a brave Wolf to tip against Port this week after their effort against the Swans. This week will be their first at home, a venue in which they need to turn into a fortress if they are to return to the finals. They have a dismal overall record against the Dockers, winning just 3 of their last 9 at all venues though have won their recent clashes in Adelaide. The likes of Gray and Wingard up forward should prove difficult matchups for the Dockers and with a severe lack of scoring ability at the Freo end, the Wolf can see the Power’s scoring ability being too much here. The Power will charge out of the blocks playing their first match at home and the Wolf cannot see them relinquishing their lead at any stage.

Player Markets
Port’s Ollie Wines has been in terrific touch since the half way stage of 2016 and has continued that in round 1. Wines now has 9 consecutive fantasy scores over the 100-point mark. He had game high 33 disposals against Sydney and is definitely one to keep an eye on in fantasy and disposal markets. Another player who had a terrific 2016 is Lachie Neale. Neale set the record for the number of disposals in a regular season last year and has collected 38 against the Power in his last outing. With Sandilands likely to win the hit outs against Ryder, expect Neale to have a big day here.
